25 June 2025
The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here...we are incredibly excited to announce that the Mt Perisher 6 is expected to open for its first day of operations this Friday 27th June.
Join us from 9:00am this Friday as the Mt P 6 takes its very first guests for a spin – a moment years in the making, and you won’t want to miss it.
Plus, we’re turning up the fun with surprise giveaways (limited edition merch, anyone?) and live music on Mt Perisher throughout the day.
Our Special Plans for First Chairs
We know many passionate skiers and snowboarders love the tradition of lining up bright and early to score that coveted first ride, but for this special occasion, we’re doing things a little differently. While you might not be first-first to ride the Mt P 6, we’d love you to join us at the base for the celebration and be among the first to ride it.
More Than a Decade in the Making
If you’ve been following along the journey to the Mt P 6, you’ll know this is more than just another chairlift. The Mt P 6 project represents a major investment in the future of snowsports in Australia and a clear reflection of our ongoing commitment to improving the experience on Mt Perisher. Years in the making, the Mt P 6 was brought to life through the unwavering dedication and hard work of the Perisher team and our lift partner, Doppelmayr.
The Mt Perisher 6 Chairlift (what we've affectionately dubbed 'Mt P 6') has been meticulously planned for over more than a decade. From initial blueprints to the final bolt, this $26 million project was fuelled by a shared passion for improving access on Mt Perisher and delivering a smoother, faster and more fun day on snow.
Construction began in late 2023, and thanks to a favourable run of weather and incredible teamwork from both Perisher’s construction crew and Doppelmayr engineers, the project wrapped up right on schedule.
And now, with winter in full swing, we’re ready to turn the bullwheel and welcome guests aboard Australia’s newest, and highest lifted point.
What to Expect from The Mt Perisher 6
The Mt P 6 isn’t just a new way up the hill, it’s a whole new way to experience Mt Perisher.
- 6-seater comfort: Spacious, modern carriers that load faster and ride smoother
- High-speed access: Reaches the summit in approx. 5.5 minutes - 44% faster than the previous Mt P Double and Triple chairs
- New heights: Australia's newest, highest lifted point at 2,042m
- Improved mountain flow: Helps reduce congestion and improve guest circulation across the resort
- Wind performance upgrade: Built with a wider rope gauge and advanced tech to handle wind on Mt Perisher better than ever before
All of this means more laps, less waiting, and more time enjoying everything Mt Perisher has to offer.
A Massive Team Effort
This project is a true reflection of the dedication and grit of the entire Perisher team, from long days on the tools in snow and sun, to our winter operations crew who’ve worked tirelessly in recent weeks to prepare Mt Perisher for skiing and snowboarding.
We’re beyond proud of what’s been achieved, and we can’t wait to see our first guests ride it this week.
Meet You at The Mt P 6!
We’d love for you to be there as we turn the page on a new era for Mt Perisher. So whether you're chasing first laps or just want to be part of a little piece of Perisher history, we cannot wait to see you there on Friday.
