While we have been enjoying our summer and the Christmas break, the Doppelmayr and Perisher teams have been hard at work. There was no rest for the team who have worked (and continue to work) tirelessly to ensure the Mt. Perisher 6 spins this winter!
Amazing progress has been made on both top and bottom station structures over the past month or so, with the team now preparing bottom station for mechanical fit out and electrical installation works.
Head over to the Perisher Instagram to watch Operations Director, Michael Fearnside, give us a site tour and construction update.
Did you know?
The Mt. Perisher 6 will use Doppelmayr’s latest Direct Drive technology, meaning that the new chairlift will use a gearless motor that’s directly connected to the bullwheel, eliminating the need for a gearbox. Direct Drive chairlifts bring with them a range of benefits including higher reliability, a more compact design, minimal maintenance, greater energy efficiency and low noise and vibration emission meaning more peace and quiet for the environment.
Up at the top station of Australia’s highest lifted point, the team have been working towards completing all pierings so that work on the station’s base slab can begin. The base slab will form the substructure that will house the chair’s communication and storage facilities. Block work has also commenced which will eventually form part of top station’s unload platform.
Lift towers 1, 2, 3, 5, & 6 have also now been installed, with work continuing to install the remaining 5 towers.
Did you know?
The total number of lift towers on Mt. Perisher will reduce from 27 to just 10 in 2025 thanks to the new chairlift. That’s a whole lot more space to rip into!
Over the next few months, the team will install the remaining lift towers while mechanical and electrical works also take place before moving onto one of our favourite parts of the process...haul rope installation!
