Perisher New Employees

Kicking Off

Get yourself ready for living and working at Perisher. Here are some of the key things to organise in the run-up to your arrival and during the first couple of days.

While your body will acclimatise to the temperatures over the season, you're likely to feel the cold, especially during the first few weeks. While one bulky item of clothing can be helpful at times (for walking between venues, for instance), it's not always very practical. We suggest you pack lots of thin layers, so that as you warm up and cool down, you can add or subtract layers to help you feel comfortable.

Uniform requirements vary depending on the department you work within. Please refer to the guideline below, the special conditions in your Letter of Offer and speak to your Manager should you have any further questions.

Collect your Perisher uniform from the Uniform Room located at Bullocks Flat if you work in the following departments:

  • Car Park Attendant
  • Child Care & Support Crew
  • Concourse
  • Grooming
  • Snowsports Instructors
  • Ticket Services – Scanning
  • Trail Crew
  • Train Drivers

Collect your uniform from your Manager if you work for the following departments:

  • Hospitality (all divisions)
  • Lift Operators
  • Resort Services including: Hire, Retail and Ticket & Guest Services
  • Snow Holidays
  • Snowmaking (unless notified otherwise)

Staff Passes

All Perisher employees are provided with a staff pass, which must be worn at all times. The pass provides you with access to Skitube and lifts, as well as free ski and snowboarding lessons. You'll also qualify for special discounts if you show your staff pass at Perisher's food and retail outlets.

Staff passes can be collected from a designated ticket booth at Bullocks Flat during business hours, unless otherwise advised by your Manager, and in consultation with the Ticketing Manager.

To pick up your pass, you must have completed all assigned onboarding activities. Upon collection, you'll be asked to read and sign the terms and conditions of the pass and also have your photo taken.

Purchasing Equipment

We're often asked whether you should buy your equipment before leaving home, or once you get to Jindabyne. The simple answer is to do what's best for you! While our retail store offers staff discounts, you may find it easier to pick up a deal on your way to the snow.

However, if you've never been to the snow before, we suggest you hire your skiing or snowboarding equipment, take a few lessons and then decide which is for you. Once you've made up your mind, then you can purchase your preferred equipment.

Equipment Check

As a Perisher employee, you must have all your ski and snowboard equipment checked by competent Perisher Hire technicians prior to undertaking any skiing or boarding. This applies to all skis, snowboards, boots and bindings. To have your equipment checked you'll need to take it to our Hire outlet at Bullocks Flat.
